What is a nectar collector?

A nectar collector, also known as a dab straw, nectar straw, or honey straw, is a straw-shaped dab rig used to directly smoke wax. This special type of dab rig is handheld and portable, making it a convenient way to enjoy your dabs. They almost act in the same way a one-hitter does for dry herb, but even better!

One of the great things about nectar collectors is their ease of use. All you have to do is heat up the heat-resistant tip with a torch. Once the tip is nice and hot, just dip it into your dab of choice and inhale the resulting smoke through the mouthpiece.

Using larger dab rigs can be process, taking a significant amount of time and energy to prepare for a session. Dab straws, by comparison, take much less time. Just heat up your tip and go to town!

Tip Material: It's also important to consider the material of tip. Just like with the body material, each tip material has its own set of benefits and downsides. The three primary types are:

• Quartz Tips are the most widespread type of tip, and with good reason! They have many benefits, chief among them being their ability to handle the high temperatures necessary for dabbing. Taking draws through a quartz tip creates a cleaner taste than with other materials. They're cheap to replace and easy to clean.
• Titanium Tips are renown for their speed and durability. They heat up much faster than quartz and can handle very high heat. Their metal construction makes them the most durable type of dab tip. The only real issue with titanium tips is that they have a higher potential to overheat, which can negatively affect the taste of your dabs. 
• Glass Tips are the OG when it comes to nectar collectors, as they are the first material that people made tips out of. While they do have some weaknesses, they're still definitely worthy of consideration in the modern day. They're very affordable, easy to clean, and just as a valid as quartz tips when doing low-temperature dabs. Their main downfall comes with their durability, as they break easier than other materials and can't handle higher temperatures.

Water Filtration: If you're looking for extra smooth hits, consider getting a nectar collector with mid-section that can hold water. These dab straws make your hits a lot smoother and cleaner. They are a bit more difficult to clean then other nectar collectors and require some more preparation, but the extra filtration makes the effort worth it!
